Wilson Orthodontics was started in 1912. The Wilson family has undertaken the specialty of orthodontics with great success. The Winchester facility was started in 1940 and offers a wide variety of services covering adult and pediatric orthodontics. Dr. Robert W. Wilson, a grandson to the founder took over the Winchester clinic in 2006 and continued the legacy of excellent orthodontics delivered in the least invasive way. Dr. Allen D. McCorkle specializes in pediatric dentistry. Dr. McCorkle was educated at the Medical College of Virginia after which he served in the United States Navy Dental Corps and other areas leading him to obtain recognition for excellence by the American Society of Dentistry for Children. He has resided in Winchester since 1981.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with Dr. McCorkle and his staff. They were respectful and sensitive to my children and me. Their office is the best referral I have ever received.
Awesome place for kids!!! The office has plenty of toys and a playground in the waiting area, to include a dental chair for kids to climb on and get comfortable with the feel. in the exam room, the walls and ceilings are covered with toys and decorations to keep kids amused and the staff (ALL of them) are AMAZING with kids. They get the kids involved and talk to them to make sure they take pride in brushing their teeth, as well as understand HOW to do it. I took my son here for his 1st ever appointment, and as a little 2 year old, he had a screaming fit as soon as the doctor opened his mouth - the staff stayed totally calm and continued the exam, looking totally okay with it! If you are worried about your kid freaking out - they can handle it, as well as getting your kids to enjoy the visits. My son is now 5 and he looks forward to his appointments every time.
Dr. McCorkle and his staff are AMAZING!! They go above and beyond to make your child feel comfortable! They explain what they're doing to the child instead of talking around them. EXCELLENT practice!!
